Dear parents and students,
I want to thank the parents who gave me suggestions on dating the homework more specifically. From now on, I will date the homework with given date and the due date so it will be clearer. However, I would strongly suggest all students turn in homework on the due date to not inconvenience everyone.
Talking about homework, all 2nd grade students turned in their homework this week. I am so proud of them and want to thank them for being such responsible students. I hope other classes can learn from them. Everyone should remind each other to turn in homework as a class before you come to Chinese class. I want to see the outcomes of your homework to help you to secure the learned materials before I proceed to the new materials. From now on, I will reserve 5 minutes in the beginning of the class for students to ask questions. We have to answer all questions in order to go further in learning Chinese.
Once again, for 5-8th grade students, in case you missed last week’s newsletter, this is a gentle reminder that you should go to School Chinese webpage, click on the assignment for November Project, and download the “All about Myself” template. This assignment is due on Friday, 11/30. You still have 13 days to complete this assignment. Please do not forget to review during the holidays. Sometimes, you can get unexpected improvement while you study a bit during the relaxing holidays.
I started teaching character writing after quarter one. The students were struggling in the beginning, but they were excited later when they conquered the difficulty. I am so touched when I see them proud of and confident of their character writing. I believe this is a good experience for them to understand that you just only need work hard and push yourself a bit to overcome obstacles. Way to go! I will design customized writing sheets for each student to practice writing their own Chinese name in character form during the Thanksgiving holidays.
Two website links are provided for you to explore Chinese at home.
