Dear parents and students,
We finally finished a cumulative oral test for Q2. I was surprised by some of you that could learn and retain so much in such a short time (15 lessons for 1-4th grade students, 14 lessons for 5-6 grade students). One funny discovery I found during the test was more students in 1-4th grades scored higher in counting and colors than the students in 5-8th grades. I do understand that 5-8th graders have to learn more on the sentences and character writing, but I want to encourage you to keep it up. From now on, I will also give homework about counting and colors to help you retain them. Also, the counting and colors will be part of warm up in each lesson.
I want to thank all students who completed and turned in their homework and parents who encourage their kids to turn in the homework on time. I am glad to see that the homework rate is higher than 90%. If you are one of those who still have trouble to turn in homework, I have asked the students to gently remind each other to bring your homework before Chinese class. The homework will no longer be posted on the Chinese webpage; I will deliver your homework to your classroom teachers if you are absent. Let’s work together to reach the 100% homework back in the third quarter.
February 10th is the first day of 2013 Chinese New Year. We will continue to learn the 12 zodiac animals and other culture related to Chinese New Year. We will make a poster about it. If any of you would like to help please use the Chinese Corner time to help. I believe your involvement will benefit your Chinese learning.
Chinese corner time is Thursday and Friday from 12:05 to 12:45. From 12:05-12:25 is for grade 5-8 students, 12:25-12:45 is for grade 1-4. I especially encourage those who have trouble with homework or feel that you want to learn more to come for extra tutoring.
Have a nice weekend,
张老师
