Dear parents and students,
I have checked the calendar and realized that there are only 3 lessons left for the 8th grade students. I want to thank you all for giving me the chance to be your first Chinese language teacher. Even though it hasn’t been long, I do hope you will continue to learn Chinese. However, we have to use the last 3 lessons efficiently and wisely. In case you are too busy for other subjects and activities, I want to remind you the plan: the skit will be used as your Q4 final. The topic of the skit is about going to a Chinese restaurant. On 4/26, each team should finish the scripts. In this lesson, I will help each individual who needs help with editing the skit. An evaluation rubric will be given to you so you can put in thorough consideration when you practice. On 5/10, the first 20 minutes will also be used as practice time. Then, you will play the skits and I will video tape you. Also, please bring back the textbooks with the practice books. On 5/17, we will watch your skits and discuss them. If any of you have character writing work for extra credit, this will be the last time I can accept your extra credit work.
Grades 6 and 7 will also do skits as their final project for Chinese class. 1-5th grade students will do a weekly lunch menu as their final project. I will also conduct a cumulative final summative evaluation for grade 1-7 students. Be able to understand and to respond to my questions during the conversation will the major component of the test. I will give you a review guide for the test. For now, you should work on your final project and be able to imply the learned knowledge in your projects.
I want to say sorry to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders about the pen pal project. The ages of the pen pals from China are 10-13 years old. I have told the teacher that we will do a group letter and ask her to read the letter to the whole class. In this way, we can still keep in touch with them while I am searching for younger kids who are willing to join the pen pal project. I hope the pen pal project is a continuous project so we can continue to have contact with the students from China. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks.
Regards,
张老师
