December 15th
Dear Parents and students,
39 out of 49 pen pal surveys were turned in. So far, 1 out of 39 students do not want to participate. I would like to reiterate that this is optional. In last newsletter, I have attached the website of Chinese elementary school, here it is again in case you missed last newsletter http://www.qsedu.com/. Since the Chinese elementary school in China is from first grade to 6th grade (some include kindergarten), I am working on finding a nearby middle school for 7thand 8th grade students. I won't be able to pair pen pals in same age and same gender but I will do my best to pair the students. For this reason, our first connection will focus on introducing our state and school to them as a class. We will do the group letter in class. We will use the Chinese we learned whenever we have a chance in the letter. I would like to request all of you to collect information about Michigan, especially for those who have studied Michigan in Social Studies currently or before and think of how you would introduce our school to the other school. Pictures are welcomed. Thank you.
For 7th and 8th grade students, I only heard back from one parent with student who wants to come to the “Dumpling party” and the mother is willing to chaperon. If there are less than 5 students interested, I will abort the plan. Please e-mail me at [email protected] to let me know if your kid will come and the preference of the dates (pick the dates from January 3rd to January 6th) by this Saturday (12/22). Thank you.
As usual, please don’t forget to turn in your homework on time for full credit. Most of you have gradually built up the habit to do and turn in homework. Our goal is to have all of you turn in homework on time as a responsible student. I hope all of you can help and remind each other to be a responsible student. The weekly quiz is also a reminder for you to study. I can tell a few of you study and score high on the quiz. I hope the rest of you have to learn what you can learn. I would like to see all of you score high in your quiz.
I want to thank all the classroom teachers here. They help me to pass the Chinese homework to their Chinese language students and some of them even help collect the homework. Thank you once again for the help.
Have a good weekend,
张老师
