Required material: 1 inch binder
Textbook: 快乐汉语(kuài lè hàn yǔ)will be used in class and at home. There will be one copy of Student’s book and one copy of Exercise book. You are not allowed to write anything on those two books. You should use a different sheet of paper as an answer sheet and turn it in for grading.
Curriculum goals: You will learn to listen, speak, read, and write Chinese in this class. The goal is to teach you to be able to communicate in Chinese.
Content oriented objectives:
The textbook of 快乐汉语We will cover four units in this year. Each quarter will cover one unit. The objectives are in the following:
1. Learn to greet people in Chinese
2. Know to say your name and nationality when asked, vice versa.
3. Learn to ask and answer “where” questions
4. Learn to say and write the names of Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and home.
5. Learn family titles: father, mother, older brother, and older sister.
6. Learn “this is, that is, this is not, and that is not” sentences.
7. Learn “I have…” sentences.
8. Learn the numbers and colors
9. Learn 12 zodiac animals and sing Zodiac song
10. Learn why, what and how to, and food for celebrating Chinese New Year
11. Learn "gong xi gong xi" song
12. edit 2013 Chinese New Year poster
13. Learn food
14. Learn restaurant language
15. Edit a play
16. hobbies
Assignments: Assignments will give on a weekly basis. You will also have assignments and activities, paired projects about Chinese cultures along the year.
Grading:
1. Assignment: 60% (you should finish all the assignments)
2. Classroom participation:20% (be an active learner)
3. Quiz 10%
4. Project 10%
